EMERSON PALAME - A BIOGRAPHY
Emerson
Palame was born on February 9, 1984 in Woodland
Hills, California. From the earliest moments he can remember,
Emerson was surrounded by music. He took
piano lessons at a very young age and won several awards for classical performance.
One
month before his tenth birthday, Emerson's left pinky finger was tragically
shattered in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.
After a year of reconstructive surgeries and physical therapy, half of
the finger was saved. Because of his
musical background, Emerson's story was covered in newspapers nationwide and on
television news internationally. Throughout the recovery process, Emerson never
stopped taking music lessons, and discovered that his true passion wasn't just playing
other people's music - he wanted to write his own.
Fueled
by his desire to write music, Emerson began attending Los Angeles Pierce
College when he was just
thirteen years old. Majoring in music,
he studied there for two years supplemented by private instruction from various
teachers in piano, guitar, and composition.
He studied electronic music and the recording process both in his
father's studio and at school. This led
him to put together his own home studio in which he recorded two albums of his
own songs, but never pursued their release.
At
the young age of sixteen, Emerson landed his first paying composing gig for the
book on tape version of "The Golden Bowl" by Henry James, produced by Monterey
Soundworks. Soon after, Emerson met
film/television composer Guy Moon and began working for him as an arranger on
television shows, "Fairly Oddparents" and "Chalk Zone" for Nickelodeon.
In
2002, Emerson's father Emilio invited him to co-write a commercial for
"Mercedes Benz World Racing". The bond
they shared on that project, both professionally and as father/son was so great
that they decided to form a composing team for all future projects. Together they composed several commercials,
provided cuts for music libraries, and co-wrote and produced two songs for
Garner Thomas' debut album "When You Hold Me".
Just
a month before his twentieth birthday, Emerson's biggest opportunity came as he
met with Scott Fellows about composing for a new Nickelodeon series, "Ned's
Declassified School Survival Guide".
Collaborating once again with his father, Emilio, they've composed
fifty-three episodes of "Ned's" and received critical acclaim from television
and music professionals alike.
Currently, Emerson is completing the third and final season of "Ned's Declassified" with his father. They are also beginning production on a new project with "King Washington", an exciting new rock band in L.A. in which Emerson also plays keyboards, guitar, and sings.
